ITV News reported on 9 October that the UK and its allies threw their support behind the International Criminal Court in response to US sanctions aimed at the tribunal. The move marks a sharp divide between Washington and its traditional partners over how far the court's powers extend.

The decision by allied governments to publicly back the ICC came shortly after the US announced penalties against the body. Analysts have noted that the divide may put pressure on longstanding diplomatic relationships between Washington and its allies.

Separately, King Charles covered the restoration costs for Prince Andrew. The arrangement drew attention given the continued uncertainty surrounding the prince's standing.

The PSNI also issued written notice to Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill in connection with a Garvaghy Road protest associated with the long-running Drumcree dispute. The letter suggests the possibility of a formal police interview, bringing fresh tension to a dispute that has continued to generate controversy.
