Carlton AFL players Will Hayward and Lachie Cowan were both hospitalised following separate incidents, prompting the club to launch investigations into each case. Carlton will hand its findings over to the AFL once the review is complete.

The AFL has sent Carlton an official please explain request over the matters. A potential punishment loophole is also under scrutiny. Hayward's partner was reportedly away at a hen's party event when the house party incident involving him took place. Senior figures at the club are said to be deeply angry about what happened.
